Strong Password Strategy

Beginner 4 minSecurity Basics

Password security sounds boring, which is exactly why people neglect it. But for most users, basic account security makes a bigger difference than any advanced setup.

What a Strong Password Really Means

A strong password is long, unique, and difficult to guess. The biggest mistake is reusing the same or similar passwords across email, exchanges, cloud storage, and financial services.

Why Reuse Is Dangerous

If one service suffers a breach and your password is reused elsewhere, attackers can try the same login details on other platforms. This is one of the most common ways ordinary accounts get compromised.

Use a Password Manager

A password manager helps you create and store strong, unique credentials for every important account. That removes the temptation to recycle passwords or store them in unsafe notes.

Protect the Important Accounts First

  • Email
  • Exchange and wallet accounts
  • Password manager
  • Cloud storage
  • Mobile carrier account if it is tied to your identity

Add Two-Factor Authentication

Whenever possible, add app-based two-factor authentication on top of a strong password. It adds friction for attackers and reduces the damage from leaked credentials.

At Heartbit, we encourage clients to build a password system before the stakes feel high. It is much easier to do it early than after a scare.
